Camembert pt.2
Writing about work at Amazon for my CV is cool, but showing it off, with photos of one of the most fun, high‑energy teams hits different. Nothing tops a team that knows how to have a good time. So here we go
Day 1 and honestly the whole first week was a blur of training and meeting with new colleagues/teammates. Because we’re dealing with sensitive data, i will have to be a bit vague
There is always the first meeting, not me being 20 minutes early
Life at Amazon can be exhausting, especially after a dutch weekend
For me it was very important to fit in, so when a high ranking level employee joined the call (cat) i had to fit in quick
High ranking employee (left) me as a new low rank (right). Not bad for a first month right?
Offcourse i had to chat up big man himself with a very very important message:
Being modern; working from home? got caught trying to figure out how to unmute myself in the meeting
willie dafoe couldnt be left out
Something about those winter mornings, logging in at 6:30 a.m. just to chat with overseas colleagues while it's dark outside was really satisfying.
Catching the Dutch football match was mandatory. Bets, beers, and take‑out. I plugged in the streaming box, and Nierwan somehow scored us the restaurant’s TV and amazing spot in the building. No idea what strings he pulled, but hey, it worked great.
wish i had more pictures
Eating an "Broodje met kaas" was not considered a good lunch i was told, so i got home cooked meals for lunch.
Then the holiday season rolled in, sinterklaas, glamflag en kerstbeum
van sint
I did not wish for presents; i did wish for salarisverhoging, my corporate favorite!
So we threw our own Christmas party, way more fun than management’s version. As usual, Nierwan worked his magic for the location and organisation, and everyone showed up with food, drinks, music, and—most importantly—their own good vibes.

I’ve got many, many, many more photos thanks to Donellis.
EDIT 2025: Sadly I learned Donellis had passed in feb 2025, but I’m very grateful he shot and shared all those moments with us.
After New Year the team was trimmed down, and I was one of the many who didn’t stay. What a year it was! I only wish I had more stories (and photos) to spill. Still, the memories stick around. 😄
Thanks you read this far :P
